After the fourth- grade students have gotten some practice using their tools to create different kinds of triangles, Hillary Lewis asks students to come share their right isosceles triangles made in the square frame with the class.
As they share, Hillary asks them to explain their processes and their thinking.

As I was listening to all the students, there was one student that was just really stuck, and I think the concept was just not understanding what an angle was, and what we were talking about in terms of why that is now an acute triangle.
I think we needed to back up to simply the angle, and what the angle was.
